DOWNLOAD EBOOK →On 1-2 March 2021, the World Health Organization convened representatives of Member States, experts and partners to review hypertension indicators in HEARTS Systems for Monitoring module for tracking performance of hypertension programme at health facility, subnational and national levels, and to provide concrete recommendation to enhance hypertension indicators for improving quality and coverage of services, considering clinical information needs and real-life challenges in patient and programme monitoring systems in countries. This technical report captures the meeting proceedings, conclusions and recommendations and proposes a revised set of core and additional hypertension indicators that countries can apply to their context which will address the following: 1. Inclusion of equity measures such as socio-demographic dimensions of hypertensive population. 2. Alignment with country-specific clinical protocols and targets. 3. Estimation of hypertensive population along the cascade of care. 4. Assessment of comorbidities and complications. 5. Long-term tracking of patients, minimizing losses to follow-up. 6. Continuous improvement of quality of clinical programme.
