Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Excerpt from History of the Commune of Paris The Commune of Paris, the first Government erected by the working classes, may justly be considered as the beginning in earnest of the struggle between Capital and Labour. The power of Capital is so great, and the belief in the sacredness of private property so old and so deeply rooted in the mind of man, that their abolition does not appear to be so near at hand as some predict. Labour cannot be entirely free until most of our political and social institutions and class distinctions, together with private property, the foundation of our social condition, have passed away. We can see no other solution of this tremendous and most perplexing question, the great question of our age. All the remedies which have been proposed up to the present time are nothing but quack palliatives, and completely powerless to reconcile the opposite class interests to each other. Indeed, their reconciliation is a downright impossibility. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
