DOWNLOAD EBOOK →One of George M. Cohan's most popular musicals, "Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway" was a new departure in musical entertainment, combining a mixture of farce, comedy, music, and melodrama. As was typical of the era, the plot revolves and evolves from a lost will and a servant girl who turns out to be the rightful heir to the fortune. Opening on Broadway in 1906, the musical played to enthusiastic audiences and would go on tour for the next three years with Fay Templeton playing the wisecracking maid. The musical produced some of Cohan's most famous songs, including the title song "Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway," "Mary's A Grand Old Name" and "So Long Mary." After a Broadway revival in 1912, in which Cohan took over the role of Kid Burns made famous by Victor Moore, the musical continued to be produced throughout the 20th Century including a critically acclaimed televised production in 1959 with Tammy Grimes as the maid Mary. This edition contains the complete book and lyrics, libretto only.
