Following Footsteps: Thank you Dad, for making me a hunter. By: Bob Newland Bob Newland spent his entire life living in New Jersey hunting and fishing in the fields, woods, streams, and bay of his home state. But a passion within drew him to want to experience new adventures. In his adult life he has hunted the mountain tops of Alaska and New Zealand and traversed the plains and bushveld of Africa as well as other destinations near and far. Following Footsteps chronicles his life in the outdoors from his childhood days hunting with his father and grandfather to his current expeditions. He openly reveals how much he misses his mentors but also how much enjoyment he has garnered from introducing the outdoors lifestyle to his children and others. Newland also discusses hunting’s relationship to wildlife conservation and the role he now plays in Safari Club International. He believes that organizations like SCI, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Wild Turkey Foundation are responsible for the robust wildlife population we enjoy in America. Following Footsteps shares heartfelt stories of the author’s bond to his past and exciting tales of the adventures he has taken around the globe

Born in South Carolina, White spent his childhood as a lead boy for traveling blind bluesmen. In the early '30s he moved to New York and became a popular blues star, then introduced folk-blues to a mass white audience in the 1940s. He was famed both for his strong Civil Rights songs, which made him a favorite of the Roosevelts, and for his sexy stage persona. The king of Café Society-also home to Billie Holiday--he was the one bluesman to consistently pack the New York nightspots, and the first black singer-guitarist to act in Hollywood films and star on Broadway. In the 1950s, White's bitter compromise with the blacklisters left him with few friends on either end of the political spectrum. He spent much of the decade in Europe, then came back strong in the 1960s folk revival. By 1963, he was voted one of America's top three male folk stars, but his health was failing and he did not survive the decade. Written in an engaging style, Society Blues portrays the difficult balancing act that all black performers must face in a predominantly white culture. Through the twists and turns of White's life, it traces the evolution of the blues and folk revival, and is a must read for anyone interested in the history of American popular culture, as well as a fascinating life story. Jesus' parting words to his followers were for them to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matt 28:19). This being the case, shouldn't we be concerned with gaining a full understanding of discipleship from the entire New Testament corpus? Many scholars recognize that the theme of discipleship is found throughout the New Testament, even in Revelation, with all of its symbolism and bizarre imagery. But how does it do this? The focus of this study, through the use of content analysis methodology, is to demonstrate that the theme of discipleship is not only found in the Apocalypse, but is also exceedingly relevant for Christians today. In many parts of the world Jesus' disciples are facing opposition and persecution for their testimony to Jesus Christ. It would do Christians well to read the book of Revelation once again. As they read it this time through the eyes of the oppressed, the content of the book will prove extremely valuable to aid disciples of Jesus in their efforts to "follow the Lamb wherever he goes" (Rev 14:4), no matter what the cost.

A veteran hockey writer takes on hockey culture and the NHL--addressing the games most controversial issue Whether its on-ice fist fights or head shots into the glass, hockey has become a nightly news spectacle--with players pummeling and bashing each other across the ice like drunken gladiators. And while the NHL may actually condone on-ice violence as a ticket draw, diehard hockey fan and expert Adam Proteau argues against hockeys transformation into a thuggish blood sport. In Fighting the Good Fight, Proteau sheds light on the many perspectives of those in and around the game, with interviews of current and former NHL stars, coaches, general managers, and league executives, as well as medical experts. One of the most well-known media figures on the hockey scene today, famous for his funny, feisty observations as a writer for the Toronto Star and The Hockey News and commentator on CBC radio and TV, Adam Proteau is also one of the few mainstream media voices who is vehemently anti-fighting in hockey. Not only is his book a plea to the games gatekeepers to finally clamp down on the runaway violence that permeates the sport even at its highest level, he offers realistic suggestions on ways to finally clean the game up. • Includes interviews with medical experts on head injuries and concussions, as well as with other members of the media • The author not only wages an attack on the value of fighting in hockey--but also on the establishment hockey culture Covering the most polarizing issue in hockey today, Fighting the Good Fight gives hockey fans and sports lovers everywhere a reason to stamp their feet and whistle--at a rare display of eloquence and common sense.
