The Committee conceive that a simple record of the facts of its history, illustrated by extracts from the corres pondence of its agents, will be acceptable to those who desire information, and not less to those who, having followed its course hitherto, will take pleasure in the review of the series of successive circumstances, which have from time to time called forth their grateful satisfaction. In order to a full understanding of the considerations which led to its formation, it will be necessary to glance at the actual position of female education in the missionary field, previous to its existence.
