It meets the requirements for Standard III laid down in the new Geography Syllabus of the Transvaal Education De partment; and it will also be found suitable for the work of Standard IV in the Cape Province and Natal. Naturally, there has been no attempt to make the book a complete treatise on the geography of the Union of South Africa, its neighbours and dependencies; but it is hoped that it will be found to cover the ground with sufficient fullness for beginners.
