Excerpt from Catalogue of the Arizona Territorial Normal School at Tempe, Arizona: For the School Year Ending June 30, 1891 and Circular for 1891-1892 The objects of the school were declared by said Act to be the instruction of persons, both male and female, in the art of teach ing, and in all the various branches that pertain to a good com mon school education; also to give instruction in husbandry and agricultural chemistry, in the fundamental law of the United States, and in what regards the rights and duties of citizenship. The school has been in active operation for six years, during which time there have attended the institution one hundred and forty-nine students, and fifteen have been graduated, eleven Of whom have taught in the Territorial public schools since graduation.
