Excerpt from Brick for Street Pavements: An Account of Tests Made on Bricks and Paving Blocks, With a Brief Discussion of Street Pavement and the Method of Constructing Them In this report the varieties are represented by the numbers above given, and the separate specimens by letters. Of Each variety, except Nos. 1 and 16, ten bricks or blocks were used in making the various tests. A number always indicates the same variety, but only when the number and letter are the same, does it mean the same brick. Thus No. 1 always means a granite block, yet No. 1 A and No. 1 E are differ ent blocks, but both Georgia granite.
