The history of Barangay Dalipuga in Iligan City, Philippines can never be told without the politicos that helped in its development. Genubio M. Daug or Dodo as he was locally called, served his barangay for more than twenty-five years and helped transformed it from a ghost town to a busy community. Growing up in a farm and spending most of his student life as an activist, he became closer to the people that he never thought would serve. His term as a very simple purok-president is a good picture of local politics even beneath the level of the barangay council. When in 1989 he became a councilor, a position he still has in the writing of this paper, he and the late Mauro Ga. Bulawin worked together in developing the barangay. From keeping the shores of Dalipuga safe from dynamites to helping improve the barangay economy, both politicos gave birth to what the barangay is today. This is the story of one of them.
