Excerpt from A New Practical and Easy Method of Learning the Greek Language: After the System of F. Ahn, Doctor of Philosophy, and Professor at the College of Neuss Many practical teachers are of Opinion that Greek, if taught at all, should be taught before its sister language -the Latin, it is the elder of the two, and as an exponent of general grammar, in many respects superior. Greek roots, moreover, enter largely into the composition of Latin words; hence, a previous acquaintance with Greek would greatly simplify the task of acquiring the Latin vocabulary. It has therefore been our object to produce a Greek beginner's book, embracing essentials only, suitable to any capacity, and thoroughly practical, so that the language, if thought advisable, may be made subservient merely to the purposes of general education.
