The Abstract Book of the 8th European Medical and Biological Engineering Conference (EMBEC 2020) contains abstracts of peer-reviewed and accepted scientific contributions for the Conference. EMBECs take place in Europe every three years. They include traditional biomedical engineering topics, as well as emerging innovative technologies for application in various areas. EMBEC 2020 bridged fundamental and clinically-oriented research and emphasized the role of education, translational research and commercialization of new ideas in biomedical engineering. It aimed at fostering communication and collaboration between engineers, physicists, biologists, physicians and other professionals dealing with traditional and cutting-edge themes serving the broad field of biomedical engineering. EMBEC 2020 was organized by Slovenian Society for Medical and Biological Engineering (DMBTS) and University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, and was endorsed by the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering Sciences (EAMBES). Due to the global Covid-19 situation in the fall of 2020 and despite their efforts to host EMBEC 2020 in such severe conditions, the organizers we were unable to bring EMBEC 2020 to full fruition. This book is one of the several ways to ensure that the footprints of EMBEC 2020 remain visible.
